FCM and Photography

The Faculty of Creative Multimedia (FCM) integrates academic study with extensive creative digital technology production work. This proven approach has placed Multimedia University at the forefront of Malaysian creative multimedia education. The programmes are designed to provide the skills necessary to fulfil the insatiable global need for information, entertainment and telecommunication in the context of creative design and thinking, computing skills and business fundamentals. Here we can show some of things you can gain from FCM.

GAINING EXPERIENCE
Experience is one of the most valuable asset in someone life. It is something that you can get it easily but you have to earn it by doing or gaining it with many different ways. As a student or as my partner likes to call me, a lifelong learner I soon realized early in my career that in order to be successful, I had to leave my classroom comfort zone. But in order to gain professional experience, I needed to learn how to write, present, and research outside the classroom. Ultimately, this means presenting at conferences, submitting articles to journals, and doing multi-disciplinary research. A vital aspect that underlies all these out-of-classroom experiences is collaboration. The professional experience that you will need to accumulate derives from the ability to work and do research with your peers, faculty, and advisors. Collaboration is essential to the process of becoming a professional in your field, and it is vital to the learning experience. By collaborating with someone on, let’s say a journal manuscript, it not only gives you experience in research, writing, editing, and ultimately getting your name in print, but also shows that you work well with others. And this isn’t limited to multi-authored papers. Read any acknowledgement section in a book, article, or dissertation and you will see successful collaboration at work. For me, the road to experience starts with collaboration.

MEETING NEW PEOPLES
When you meet new people, you are expanding your network. Whether you’re in a new town or neighbourhood or you’re simply looking for new personal or professional connections, meeting new people can impact various areas of your life. In can be difficult to meet new people, however. Sometimes, you might feel like you have to repress or modify your personality a bit, and stick your neck out there and expose yourself to some potentially uncomfortable situations. The effort tends to pay off, but oddly enough, the older we get, the more difficult it becomes to meet new people. If you have moved to a new area or want to network for professional purposes, follow our steps to get out and meet new people. Meeting new people at work is fine and convenient; the drawback, however, is that these people are your colleagues, and in your haste to fit in or to have some semblance of a social life, you may form personal connections with people you don’t know that well. Eventually, some
of them might turn out to be different than you thought they were. You may regret making those personal connections because, of course, you will see these people every day at work. So, take that type of social grouping with a grain of salt.

DISCOVERING ART AND DESIGN
Furthermore, by travelling and going to new places, we can discover and learn the existing industrial art and design value and quality. The objective of this area is to study both function and form, and the connection between product, the user and the environment - product as it happens in any other architecture area, being the only difference, that here the professionals that participate in the process are all specialized in small scale design, rather than in other massive colossal equipments like buildings or ships. Industrial designers do not design the gears or motors that make machines move, or the circuits that control the movement that task is usually attributed to engineers, but they can affect technical aspects through usability design and form relationships. And usually, they partner a whole of other professionals like marketers, to identify and fulfil needs, wants and expectations.

DISCOVERING NEW PLACES
Discovery is the act of detecting something new, or something old that had been unknown. With reference to science and academic disciplines, discovery is the observation of new phenomena, new actions, or new events and providing new reasoning to explain the knowledge gathered through such observations with previously acquired knowledge from abstract thought and everyday experiences. Visual discoveries are often called sightings. Discovery can also be used to describe the first incursions of peoples from one culture into the geographical and cultural environment of others. Western culture has used the term discovery in their histories to subtly emphasize the importance of exploration in the history of the world, such as in the Age of Exploration. Since the European exploration of the world, the discovery of every continent, island, and geographical feature, for the European traveller, led to the notion that the native people were discovered though many were there centuries or even millennia before. In that way, the term has Eurocentric and ethnocentric meaning often overlooked by westerners. New discoveries are acquired through various senses and are usually assimilated, merging with pre-existing knowledge and actions. Questioning is a major form of human thought and interpersonal communication, and plays a key role in discovery. Discoveries are often made due to questions. Some discoveries lead to the invention of objects, processes, or techniques. A discovery may sometimes be based on earlier discoveries, collaborations or ideas, and the process of discovery requires at least the awareness that an existing concept or method can be modified or transformed. However, some discoveries also represent a radical breakthrough in knowledge.

DEVELOPING CREATIVITY
On top of that, by going to new places and travelling also can develop and improve our creativity in many ways. By seeing, asking, touching and sharing can generate also develop our creativity and ideas. Promoting creative thinking is a powerful way of engaging children with their learning. Children who are encouraged to think creatively show increased levels of motivation and self esteem. Creativity prepares them with the flexible skills they will need to face an uncertain future. Employers want people who are adaptable, innovative, can solve problems and communicate well with others. Developing the capacity to be creative can enrich their lives and help them to contribute to a better society. Creative thinking skills are essential for success in learning and success in life. Creative thinking involves a range of skills that can be promoted across the curriculum. There is potential for creative thinking in all fields of human activity, and in all lessons. This article offers strategies that can be adapted to enrich teaching in a range of subject areas. It aims show ways to develop children’s capacity for original ideas and creative achievement.

GAINING NEW KNOWLEDGE
Knowledge is the most important and valuable things in all civilized citizens and human beings. I think people are the biggest source of knowledge for anybody. Right from childhood, we have learned things by watching others. Whatever field you want to gain knowledge in, there must be many who have enough experience in that field. So make use of this valuable source of information by learning from the experience, accomplishments, mistakes and expertise of others. Study carefully and associate with people who are experts in the field you want to gain knowledge about. The next best source of knowledge can be books. There are millions and millions of books written throughout the world in every language and on almost any topic imaginable. Whatever problem you are facing must have been faced by somebody else before, and its solution is likely to have been preserved in the form of a book. If you are serious about gaining knowledge on a topic, then read any book, magazine, article etc. you can lay your hands on related to that topic. Read as much as you can. This is another important resource for the seeker of knowledge. It is said that experience is a great teacher, so learn from your past experiences and the experience of others. Learn from your and others' past and present achievements as well as mistakes.

GENERATE PASSION TOWARDS ART
For individuals that love art and have a deep interest in design, travelling can generate their passion towards art deeper. Art can help us in reaching a deeper inner understanding. The artist's view of him or herself and of the world is best focussed during the creative effort and through it we can understand things that without it we would possibly never discover inside us. This is the value of art, in our opinion. It helps us in the quest for that reality, well hidden within ourselves, which is at risk of remaining unknown. We would argue that the normal environment of the artist's training is the arena of all those natural factors of living, dying, making choices, loving, dreaming, suffering, hating, hoping, forgiving. Also, by choosing a specific art as the medium for sharing our existential experiences, we are also taking the challenge of trying to redefine our identity. We think that a good expression of creativity should carry some truth about being, either being in one's personal world or in one's imagination. We think that art is worthy when it sincerely describes us humans and the world around us, with all its misery, thirst, the quest for identity and meaningful relationships, sadness, feelings and choices. Therefore, art in our opinion can be found in any creative expression, which can tell us something about the joy and light of living – but also about the dark side, where there is evil and ugliness, and people left alone or aloof. For us, a work sounds false when creativity was used for mere seductive aims, without reference to anything real.
